About Kat
Kathryn (Kat) Hlavin has 13 years’ experience as a physical therapist. Kat holds a BS in biology from Ohio State University and a DPT from Columbia University. She began her career in inpatient rehabilitation, working primarily with patients experiencing neurological issues, including pediatrics. She transitioned to a hospital setting in DC and was part of the team founding an intensive care and post-trauma protocol to give patients the best start in the rehab process. She now covers multiple teams in the hospital setting and works across multiple teams, applying her experience to the most complex cases and with pediatrics. Becoming a mom of two has been one of the most rewarding and challenging aspects of Kat’s life. Both kids came along during major life transitions, and Kat found comfort and safety with other parents, having other people understand the tears and the joys, and to provide support and reassurance. She strives to do the same for the families with whom she works at Playwell. In her free time, Kat enjoys spending time with her husband and children, going to the park, cooking, and playing whichever superhero is requested for the day.
